States Question Electronic Voting Machines

With the presidential race in full swing, Colorado and other states have found critical flaws in the accuracy and security of their electronic voting machines, forcing officials to scramble to return to the paper ballots they abandoned after the Florida debacle of 2000.

In December alone, top election officials in Ohio and Colorado declared that widely used voting equipment is unfit for elections.

"Every system that is out there, one state or another has found that they are no good," said John Gideon of the advocacy group Voters Unite. "Everybody is starting to look at this now and starting to realize that there is something wrong."

The swing states of California, Ohio and Florida have found that security on touch-screen voting machines is inadequate. Testers have been able to disable the systems and even change vote totals.

Florida's "hanging chads" in the disputed 2000 Al Gore-George W. Bush election exposed the imperfection of paper ballot counting and helped lead to a $3 billion government initiative to bring voting into the digital age. The Help America Vote Act of 2002 effectively required that states have electronic equipment in place by 2010.

There are no documented cases of actual election tampering involving electronic voting machines.

But in tests, researchers in Ohio and Colorado found that electronic voting systems could be corrupted with magnets or with Treos and other similar handheld devices.

In Colorado, two kinds of Sequoia Voting Systems electronic voting machines used in Denver and three other counties were decertified because of security weaknesses, including a lack of password protection. Equipment made by Election Systems and Software had programming errors. And optical scanning machines, made by Hart InterCivic, had an error rate of one out of every 100 votes during tests by the state.

"I was surprised," Colorado Secretary of State Mike Coffman said Friday of the failures his office found. "It's an awful position to be put in, but I feel strongly it's important that this equipment be secure and accurately count a vote."

Now some states are turning back to paper — in some cases, just weeks before primary elections.

California, Ohio and Florida have chosen to use scanning machines that count paper ballots electronically.

In Colorado, which has spent $41 million in federal grants on electronic systems, many of the state's nearly 3 million registered voters — and the county officials who conduct the voting — don't know what their elections will look like in 2008.

Coffman and Colorado's clerks and recorders are in a dispute over whether to use mail-in ballots or cast paper ballots at polling places.

All fear time is running out.

"We look at each other and go, 'We have used this equipment in three elections. Why did it get taken to a test board and get decertified?'" said Debbie Green, who heads the Colorado County Clerks Association and is the clerk and recorder of rural Park County. "There are some counties having elections in January and February and they don't have any election equipment."

Vendors of the electronic voting machines warn against a rush back to paper.

It can take two years to put a voting system in place, and overhauling a system just weeks before some states hold presidential primaries will invite a new round of problems, they say.

"To throw the baby out with the bath water is certainly shortsighted," said David Beirne, executive director of the Election Technology Council, which represents manufacturers of 90 percent of electronic systems used in the country.

States have their own certification standards, complicating things for manufacturers. "From an industry standpoint, trying to design a voting system when you don't know how it's being judged is causing a lot of problems," Beirne said.

And having a paper ballot does not guarantee security.

"If you look at the history of election fraud, you are really talking about paper," said Merle King, executive director of the Center for Election Systems at Kennesaw State University in Georgia.

As we've reported earlier, the Department of Homeland Security has funded the development of a laser dazzler that is designed to create nausea, with plans to field it to law enforcement officers. The LED Incapacitator "has been winning over hearts and minds," DHS says. Apparently, last month "DHS law enforcement officers convened in Washington to get their hands on the LED-I and describe for the developers the features, sizes, and controls they’d like to see. Commercial models are expected to hit the streets (and borders) in 2009."

DANGER ROOM won't be happy till we see some "puke on demand" action. Heck, we'll be human guinea pigs (well, I'll volunteer Noah first).

Italian Says 9/11 Solved

Former Italian President Francesco Cossiga, who revealed the existence of Operation Gladio, has told Italy’s oldest and most widely read newspaper that the 9-11 terrorist attacks were run by the CIA and Mossad, and that this was common knowledge among global intelligence agencies. In what translates awkwardly into English, Cossiga told the newspaper Corriere della Sera:

“All the [intelligence services] of America and Europe…know well that the disastrous attack has been planned and realized from the Mossad, with the aid of the Zionist world in order to put under accusation the Arabic countries and in order to induce the western powers to take part … in Iraq [and] Afghanistan.”

Cossiga was elected president of the Italian Senate in July 1983 before winning a landslide election to become president of the country in 1985, and he remained until 1992.

Cossiga’s tendency to be outspoken upset the Italian political establishment, and he was forced to resign after revealing the existence of, and his part in setting up, Operation Gladio. This was a rogue intelligence network under NATO auspices that carried out bombings across Europe in the 1960s, 1970s and ’80s. Gladio’s specialty was to carry out what they termed “false flag” operations—terror attacks that were blamed on their domestic and geopolitical opposition.

In March 2001, Gladio agent Vincenzo Vinciguerra stated, in sworn testimony, “You had to attack civilians, the people, women, children, innocent people, unknown people far removed from any political game. The reason was quite simple: to force … the public to turn to the state to ask for greater security.”

Cossiga first expressed his doubts about 9-11 in 2001, and is quoted by 9-11 researcher Webster Tarpley saying “The mastermind of the attack must have been a sophisticated mind, provided with ample means not only to recruit fanatic kamikazes, but also highly specialized personnel. I add one thing: it could not be accomplished without infiltrations in the radar and flight security personnel.”

Coming from a widely respected former head of state, Cossiga’s assertion that the 9-11 attacks were an inside job and that this is common knowledge among global intelligence agencies is illuminating. It is one more eye-opening confirmation that has not been mentioned by America’s propaganda machine in print or on TV. Nevertheless, because of his experience and status in the world, Cossiga cannot be discounted as a crackpot.

A new intelligence institution to be inaugurated soon by the Bush administration will allow government spying agencies to conduct broad surveillance and reconnaissance inside the United States for the first time.

Under a proposal being reviewed by Congress, a National Applications Office (NAO) will be established to coordinate how the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and domestic law enforcement and rescue agencies use imagery and communications intelligence picked up by U.S. spy satellites.

If the plan goes forward, the NAO will create the legal mechanism for an unprecedented degree of domestic intelligence gathering that would make the U.S. one of the world's most closely monitored nations.

Until now, domestic use of electronic intelligence from spy satellites was limited to scientific agencies with no responsibility for national security or law enforcement.

The intelligence-sharing system to be managed by the NAO will rely heavily on private contractors including Boeing, BAE Systems, L-3 Communications and Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC). These companies already provide technology and personnel to U.S. agencies involved in foreign intelligence, and the NAO greatly expands their markets. Indeed, at an intelligence conference in San Antonio, Texas, last month, the titans of the industry were actively lobbying intelligence officials to buy products specifically designed for domestic surveillance.

NAFTA CEMENTING A NORTH AMERICAN UNION

Millions of Americans are now aware of the plan for a North American Union (NAU)/Security and Prosperity Partnership (SPP). This awareness came via the Internet thanks to Phyllis Schafly and Dr. Jerome Corsi (video). Lou Dobbs has given it an extraordinary amount of exposure during his shows on CNN; the rest of CNN ignores it. The silence by ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC, and FAUX (FOX) "news" networks has been deafening. The attack by legends in their own minds, i.e., pusillanimous individuals like Michael Medved, have been remarkable and a shame upon their so-called profession.

If you are not familiar with this final step in the complete and total destruction of our sovereign republic, I strongly recommend you go to this web site and watch this fully documented and factual slide presentation on this plan which I call treason. The definition of treason is: disloyalty or treachery to one's country or it's government. Treason is any attempt to overthrow the government or impair the well-being of a state to which one owes allegiance; the crime of giving aid or comfort to the enemies of one's government. I don't believe it is inappropriate to use the word treason when it comes to this plan to integrate America into one region with all the trappings of totalitarian government.

As someone who fought hard against NAFTA when I ran for Congress against a liar named CON-gressman Wally Herger (R-CA), I knew back in 1993 how devastating NAFTA would be to our three most important job sectors that made America great: ag, manufacturing and industrial. CON-gressman Herger said he would vote against it. He wrote a letter to the California Ag Bureau six days before the vote laying out why it was so dangerous and then just like the high paid hooker he is, voted for it. Herger admitted he never read NAFTA as most members of Congress also did not. These lackeys voted on a huge trade agreement, but never read it. Despite massive opposition at the time, this unconstitutional treaty was passed by a stupid, greedy Congress and signed into law by Marxist Bill Clinton. While I applaud Rep. Marcy Kaptur's bill (click here), never mind re-negotiating or get out - GET US OUT! This is the vehicle to implement a North American Union.

We are now starting to see the provisions kicking in at hyper speed to finally destroy these united States of America and let me lay it out crisp and clear:

The destruction of NAFTA was felt within the first 18 months and has continued to destroy our sovereignty and job bases ever since. In the first few years, over 4,000 factories closed down, small towns became dying towns. To date MILLIONS of jobs have been lost with more all the time because of the evil called out sourcing. America continues to lose in the fair trade arena; instead we are steadily being crushed by the evil of "free" trade. In 1995, American businesses were notified by the IRS that that under NAFTA, they would have to make all of their federal employment taxes by electronic transfer; view this document here. Why? The same reason we the people are being taxed to death to pay for new infrastructure inside Mexico: one world government. One worker base of three countries merged into one region, all under the same homogenized laws.

Despite the massive invasion of illegal aliens crossing over our borders, neither Marxist Bill Clinton or globalist George Bush, made any effort to stop it and millions of Americans - especially post 911 - simply could not understand why Bush has steadfastly refused to do what President Eisenhower did so effectively. Many of us who have been in the trenches for decades knew and now millions more know: a North American Union means just that. No borders, no sovereign nations, just one big region for these diabolically evil men and women who lust for raw power to rule over us and they don't care who they destroy on their path to supreme imperialism.

Earlier this year, another sword was thrust right at the heart of our American truckers and the safety of we the people: the Bush Administration pushed through the Mexican truck invasion. While outraged Americans and the truckers rallied and demanded this insanity not be allowed to roll onto U.S. soil past the 25-mile neutral zone, it has been pushed through anyway. Why? Because it's a provision of NAFTA. Please see the links below for history.

Back in August, I wrote a comprehensive piece titled, Stop the NAU/SPP - what does that really mean? It's all about money and power gained through anti-American trade policies. It's about flooding this republic with even more dangerous junk from sadistic, brutal communist countries like China. It is the epitaph of an American Republic if not stopped. As I wrote in previous columns about the Texas Trans Corridor and the NAU, this planned destruction of America didn't just crop up in 2005; it probably took at least ten years for the EIRs (Environmental Impact Reports/Statements) alone. Now it's gone into warp speed because millions of Americans have caught on and are on the war path.

Now I give you further proof of the perfidy of elected public servants. Please click here to see this document. This document is S.B. 1120, a bill passed in the Arizona State Legislature and signed by their governor in April, 1993. This legislation somehow got categorized as an emergency: "Sec.|5.||Emergency. This act is an emergency measure that is necessary to preserve the public peace, health or safety and is operative immediately as provided by law."

This "emergency" bill was to: A. The office of Sonora is established in the office of the governor. Promote a greater understanding and facilitate the implementation of the north American free trade agreement and, 2. Facilitate the flow of information and act as a liaison in the establishment of commercial relationships between Sonora, Mexico and this state.

NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement) was not signed into law by Marxist Bill Clinton until December 8, 1993, yet this agreement between a state governor and a state in a foreign country was reached eight months before Clinton sold US out. So sure were the forces who own Washington, D.C., that they would get NAFTA passed - despite overwhelming opposition by we the people - agreements were already being entered into for trade far in advance of the vote by the U.S. Congress. How they must have laughed at we the people as we fought so hard to stop NAFTA.

In November, 2007, Sen. Karen Johnson and Rep. The documents below are short, but you need to read them because this is the cementing of the North American Union - all in the name of trade and big bucks for foreign countries and corporate giants in this country who have sold US out - raw and without apology.

The push for a National ID is one of the major tools needed by this North American Union. It has nothing to do with terrorists, it has everything to do with tracking and following your every move - along with the integrated citizenry of Canada and Mexico with ours. The Arizona-Sonora Commission is taking credit for the 3-in-1 ID:

Phoenix - "Governor Janet Napolitano and U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff today signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to move forward on the creation of Arizona's 3-in-1 ID - a voluntary identification that complies with Arizona's driver's license standards, the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI) and can be used in the work eligibility process." Formerly American corporate giants and local entities are buying membership into the Arizona-Sonora Commission and I hope you will boycott their products and services starting today. Either we use our consumer dollars to fight off this massive effort to reduce our middle class to poverty and the poor into beggars or we have no one to blame but ourselves. Well, not me because I have stood my ground since 1994 regarding NAFTA and buying foreign products.


One more document: This is a letter from Napolitano and Brother Huckabee, who has fooled the Evangelical Christian Right with his folksy God-talk, to Michael Chertoff, Commissar of Fatherland Security. It reaffirms Brother Huck's commitment to implement the Nazi-style "Real ID." And, why wouldn't he? His newly appointed advisor on foreign policy is none other than Richard Haas, president of the treasonous Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) who believes our national sovereignty should be scraped in favor of world government. Make no mistake about it: Brother Huckabee has been kissed and blessed by the traitors working to destroy this republic. Not to mention the Huckster's coddling of illegals and his rolling out the welcome mat for a Mexican Consulate in Little Rock to help illegals stay in this country and steal jobs and classroom seats from Americans.

I have found more of these commissions with the State of Texas. No doubt California has also entered into them. The state legislatures all open for business next week in their new sessions as does Congress. NumbersUSA, ALIPAC and others have been phenomenally successful in leading the way in the fight against this illegals invasion. I sincerely believe we all need to put forth a massive push in January and keep the pressure on until we stop the NAU/SPP and NAFTA Super Highway. This massive illegals invasion and the NAU are integral to each other. I hope the aforementioned organizations will vigorously begin a massive campaign to join the rest of us to defeat this final push to destroy America as a free and independent nation.

Rep. Virgil Goode (R-VA) introduced a very important bill that did not get passed in Congress in the last session. We must demand the same bill gets reintroduced and demand Congress stop this now - right along with the states who haven't committed to rejecting the NAU. It's too late to stop the Texas Trans Corridor, although we can boycott using it and I will. But, we can and we must stop this treason. It will require an all out assault on the state legislatures and Congress.

There is no more time. The final pieces of the puzzle have emerged and these arrogant elitists think we are just going to sit back and allow our republic to be dissolved. They're badly mistaken. However, this has to be our number one priority or everything else is going to be moot. Oh, it's not as "entertaining" as 'I am Legend' or some asinine "reality" show, but unlike these silly Hollywood movies and TV, this is as real as it gets. Hopefully, it will upset and anger Americans so that they finally see that we have little time left. Particularly horrifying in ENDGAME is the fully documented segment on eugenics. The Nazi's were deep into this race based social experimentation designed to improve the white race through eugenics or "creating a better world by improving the human gene pool." Get involved this week. No snow skiing. Forget a trip to Hawaii to lay around in the sun or play golf. We have to start our war against the NAU/SPP and the NAFTA Superhighway now. We must all make the commitment to refuse any National ID. Federal employees are sickened because their job depends on accepting one. They are being forced to give up their rights and privacy or kiss their job good bye. We must demand that Congress pass a bill immediately to get the U.S. out of the NAFTA treaty and stop that NAFTA Super Highway. This must be a top priority because it is the foundation from which all the rest of this treachery is being birthed. If we don't stop this, our children and grand children will have no future except as a peasant class serving their world masters and that is no exaggeration. Talk is cheap. What we need are warriors to get the job done. We have the numbers. We have to stay focused.

The Pope's Three
Banks In America

At one time the Pope owned three major banks in America, New York, Chicago, and San Francisco. In New York, St. Peter's banker Michael Sindona, ran the Franklin National Bank as a huge gambling device and money laundry. The bank collapsed in 1974 and was taken over by a group of European banks with the Vatican losing supposedly part of their grip.


Sindona was sent to an American prison for fraudulent banking. Later, he was extradited to Italy on more charges. He began talking too much. The Pope silenced him in an Italian jail---murdered with a poisoned cup of coffee. [See: "St.Peter's Banker", by Luigi DiFonzo.] By the way, the same method they used to murder Chicago's first black Mayor, Harold Washington, 1987 and replaced him as Mayor with the Vatican's "man of trust", Richie Daley, son of late Richard J. Daley who had been mayor for some 21 years. Harold when re-elected in 1987 said he was going to take over Commonwealth Edison, the local electric monopoly owned principally by the Vatican, and run it as municipal electricity at a very cheap price to Chicago residents. That was one of several motives to poison Harold Washington. We were the only ones publicizing it through our Cable TV Show later on.


Sindona and his confederate successors also ran, for the Pope, the Continental Bank of Chicago [by about 1996 merged with the Pope's Bank of America]. All the Catholic Churches of the Western Hemisphere run their money through THAT bank. After all, the Archbishop of Chicago is also the Treasurer, for the Church, for ALL OF NORTH AMERICA, CENTRAL AMERICA, and SOUTH AMERICA. In

In the early 1980s, Continental Bank, through their holding company owed some 20 Billion Dollars to the Japanese including their mafia, the Yakuza who had put in flight capital [hot money]. Continental could not repay, so the Japanese in May, 1984, started a run on the bank and its holding company, Continental Illinois. Result? A consortium of banks, headed by J.P.Morgan and Company, took over---with the Pope losing part but not all of his control.[I was the first to publicly estimate the amount of the bank run, which turned out to be quite accurate.]


The Morgan banks are the front for British Royalty and the Queen, who for over 100 prior years always had a director sitting to supervise Continental. Through Continental Bank, however, the Vatican continued to oversee Panama's General Noriega, and his joint secret business deals with George Herbert Walker Bush. So, when the U.S. invaded Panama,1989, Noriega naturally sought refuge in the Vatican papal office and branch of the Vatican Bank in Panama. The U.S. Military used psychological warfare, including super hard-rock music, to drive Noriega out.


[In his book entitled "In God's Name", David Yallop tells how Italian newspaper editors criticized the Pope for doing nothing about Continental Bank and their links to the mafia. Yallop documents how the previous Pontiff,Pope John Paul 1st,opposing the mafia, was murdered after 33 days in office.]

The Justice Department's record-grabbers have descended on Continental Bank, seeking to destroy incriminating records that would put President Bush in the same jail cell with his CIA business partner, General Noriega. By the way, Panama, under General Noriega, was the ONLY country in the Western Hemisphere run by a dark-skinned person. Noriega was popular with the bulk of those in Panama, who are people of color. It was only the small, white aristocracy there that wanted him removed. They used the branches of worldwide banks there to skim-off loot from dope and gun running. Noriega was really just a small-time, semi-independent tyrant.


Helping supervise Continental Bank has been the Vatican's "man oftrust"[trusted to keep their business secrets], Chicago Federal Appeals Judge Walter J. Cummings, Jr.[he died about 1999]. For many years Cummings was chief judge of that Court made up primarily of banker-judges. Judge Cummings steered cases on to his fellow banker-judges who do NOT disqualify themselves in cases involving their financial interests. Guess who wins in their crooked court? For many years the major owners of Bank of America and their holding company, Bank America, were the Jesuits and the Vatican, and their long-time cronies, the Rothschilds. Bad Medicine?
Shriners - Part 20

Editor's note - I've spent the past four and a half years learning about the exciting subject of tax exempt organizations, AKA non profit groups. This article involves learning up the steep j-curves of new and different subjects. This laundry list includes clinical trials, cultured skin substitutes, institutional review boards, conflicts of interest, Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, patents and Security and Exchange Commission (SEC) regulations. Digging in these new directions began on November 8 when I got a Google News Alert about this year's FDA warning letter sent to the Shriners Hospital for Children (SHC) in Cincinnati. This led me to look into the FDA warning letters also sent to SHC Sacramento and the University of Cincinnati (U of C) College of Medicine and ended by comparing an unusual pattern of mortgage activity undertaken by Shriner executives with the "buy low, sell high" performance of a biotechnology company who is marketing a product co-developed with SHC, Tampa. If I was smart, I'd write a John Grisham type "fiction" book about all this. This investigation has uncovered all the elements of a best seller to include appendant Masonic bodies that secretly revolve around partying and, allegedly, orgies that would make Bacchus blush. Corporate vengeance. The possibility of wide spread tax fraud and corruption. And the worst-case-scenario possibility that those in positions of public trust may have used burned children as guinea pigs for their own personal gain.

This article now throws a few new prisms into the lens for a deeper look behind the scenes. On one hand, the Shriners rightly tout their charity work of providing free medical care to crippled and burned children. In contrast, the Shriners' dark side is shadowed by a 20+ year history of punishing, throwing out and suing those who question them, while they quietly continue to do things behind the scenes like file less-than-complete tax returns.

About the suing? Judge Charlene Honeywell of the Hillsborough County Thirteenth Circuit Court will hold a hearing on January 18, 2008, at 0900 on the court's own motion to dismiss the defamation complaint filed by the Shriners against whistleblowers Vernon Hill, himself a Shriner, and IRS agent, Paul Dolnier because the Shriners have "failed to prosecute" the lawsuit for the past year.

Various SHC have partnered with medical colleges to conduct clinical studies designed to discover and commercialize new burn treatments. The FDA is charged with making sure that these medical facilities meet certain guidelines and follow strict protocols concerning conflicts of interest and the protection of human subjects.

The conflict of interest policy enforces Title 42 of the Public Health regulations and states:

"This subpart promotes objectivity in research by establishing standards to ensure there is no reasonable expectation that the design, conduct or reporting of research funded under PHS grants or cooperative agreements will be biased by any conflicting financial interest of an Investigator." In other words, the investigator is not supposed to cook the books so his invention can be commercialized and marketed for millions.

The "Informed Consent ­ Protection of Human Subjects" regulation states:

"No clinical investigator may involve a human being as a subject in research unless the investigator has obtained the legally effective informed consent from the subject. (In this case, from the parents of the burned children) Informed consent is a written notification to human subjects involved in clinical investigations that provides them with sufficient opportunity to consider whether or not to participate in the study."

Each facility has an institutional review board (IRB) to monitor these studies for protocol violations.

"An institutional review board/independent ethics committee (IRB/IEC) is a group that has been formally designated to approve, monitor, and review biomedical and behavioral research involving humans with the alleged aim to protect the rights and welfare of the subjects. In the United States, Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and HHS regulations have empowered IRBs to approve, require modifications in or disapprove research as well as perform critical oversight functions for research conducted on human subjects that are scientific, ethical, and regulatory. IRBs are themselves regulated by the Office for Human Research Protections (OHRP) and were developed in direct response to research abuses earlier in the twentieth century. Two of the most notorious of these abuses were the experiments of Nazi physicians that became a focus of the post-World War II Nuremberg Trials, and the Tuskegee Syphilis Study, an unethical and scientifically unjustifiable
project conducted between 1932 and 1972 by the U.S. Public Health Service on poor, illiterate black men in rural Alabama."

If the FDA inspects such a facility, overseen by an IRB, and finds violations, warning letters are issued.
For example, the FDA sent warning letters to two Shriners Hospitals for Children and to the University of Cincinnati for alleged violations of clinical study regulations.

According to the FDA News, the January 12, 2007 warning letter addressed to Dr. Richard Kagan, MD., Chief of Staff, SHC Cincinnati, cited the hospital for "failure to report and accurately document unanticipated and anticipated adverse device events to the sponsor and the reviewing IRB." The letter also stated that the FDA inspection report "revealed serious violations" of regulations regarding Investigational Device Exemptions and Protection of Human Subjects by failing to obtain informed consent and failing to maintain accurate and complete case histories for each subject.

The March 6, 2006 warning letter addressed to Dr. David G. Greenhalgh, M.D., Chief of Burns, SHC Sacramento, described "objectionable conditions" that were found during a similar type of inspection for a different clinical study.
The letter cited the hospital for failing to "ensure an investigation is conducted in accordance with the signed agreement with the sponsor, the investigational plan, applicable FDA regulations and any conditions of approval imposed by the FDA or the IRB." The warning letter continues that the Shriners Hospital "revised or removed sections of the protocol prior to obtaining approval from the sponsor." Additionally, the hospital was cited for also failing to maintain "accurate, complete and current records regarding the receipt, use or disposition of a study device" and for failing to "maintain each subject's case history and exposure to the device, including all relevant observations."

The third FDA warning letter, dated January 29, 2007, was sent to David M. Stern, MD, who is the Dean of the University Of Cincinnati College Of Medicine, the sponsor of the burn treatment clinical trial conducted in conjunction with SHC Cincinnati. The FDA also cited "objectionable conditions" and that:
"The inspection was conducted under a program designed to ensure that data and information contained in requests for Investigational Device Exemptions, Premarket Approval (PMA applications), and Premarket Notification submissions (510K) are scientifically valid and accurate. Another objective of the program is to ensure that human subjects are protected from undue hazard or risk during the course of scientific investigations."

The FDA cited the U of C for "failure to secure the investigator's compliance with the signed investigator agreement, the investigational plan, applicable FDA regulations, and any other conditions of approval imposed by the reviewing Institutional Review Board (IRB) or FDA; for "failure to ensure adequate monitoring of the investigation and failure to include written procedures for monitoring the investigation in the investigational plan"; for "failure to label the device as investigational"; and for "failure to maintain accurate, complete and current device shipment and disposition records."

These alleged violations were identified during a premarket approval inspection of a cultured skin substitute invented by Dr. Steven Boyce, who works for both Cincinnati facilities.

Boyce lists his professional and research qualifications as current Director of the Skin Substitute Laboratories and the Department of Tissue Engineering as well as the Senior Investigator for the Research Department for SHC, Cincinnati. He is also a Professor with tenure with the Department of Surgery at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. His work at both facilities includes overseeing a clinical study into burn treatments. He has invented and patented the technology for a cultured skin substitute, trademarked "PERMADERM."

SHC Cincinnati published a fact sheet on "Cultured Skin & Other Skin Use" that states:

"First degree and second degree burns heal naturally through the body's own ability to replace damaged skin. A third degree burn or full thickness will not heal and requires grafting."

The fact sheet further states that "The Cincinnati Shriners Cultured Skin Substitute" was developed through nearly two decades of research by Dr. Steven Boyce. The process begins when a business card size piece of skin is taken from the burned child and is cultured to grow in about three weeks to the size of 100 business cards. The cultured skin substitute is then taken to surgery for application to the burn site.

The long and involved process to launch this clinical study began in 1998, the same year that Boyce registered his own biotechnology company, Cutanogen, with the Ohio Secretary of State.

Investigators must disclose any business interests in order to avoid a conflict of interest. According to a U of C official, Boyce told the Institutional Review Board he owned a company (Cutanogen) and to avoid the conflict of interest, the IRB told him to name Dr. Richard Kagan, who is also on the U of C faculty, as principal investigator.

Though the IRB told Boyce to name Kagan as principal investigator, Boyce lists himself as principal investigator for three Investigational Device Exemptions (IDE) filed with the FDA including IDE G900205, IDE G960013 and IDE G980023. He is also listed here as principal investigator for the Office of Orphan Products Development grant that funded his research into "Cultured Skin Substitutes for Closure of Burn Wounds."

On February 1, 2006, Cambrex Corporation announced in a press release "the purchase agreement for all the stock Cutanogen Corporation, a privately-held biotechnology company that is focused on products used to treat patients with severe burns" for "$1.5 million to be fully paid at closing with additional purchase price payments of up to $4.8 million subject to the achievement of certain regulatory and commercial milestones."

The press release continued that Cambrex intended to begin a pivotal trial for PermaDerm cultured skin by the end of 2006 and that the trial was estimated to take 15 months. "Upon completion of the clinical trial data," the release continues, "the Company expects to submit the results to the FDA in its application for Premarket Approval (PMA) for commercial sale. A PMA is the FDA process of scientific and regulatory review to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of Class III medical devices."

The FDA inspections took place around the same time that Cambrex announced the purchase of Boyce's company and a year later, the warning letters challenged the scientific validity and accuracy of "data and information contained in requests for Investigational Device Exemptions, Premarket Approval (PMA) applications and Premarket Notification submissions (510K)."

In 2002, another cultured skin substitute was registered with the U.S. Patent Office. This one was developed cooperatively with MIT, SHC Tampa and Integra Health.

Over a year ago, a pattern of unusual mortgage activity was discovered recorded with the Hillsborough County Clerk and with the Massachusetts Registry of Deeds. These transactions are unusual because those Shriner executives taking out the mortgages repaid them quickly with some being repaid in a matter of days and/or weeks.

For example, one Shriner executive took out a mortgage for $51,000 around April 5, 2001 and paid it back about four months later at a rate of approximately $12,750 a month. Around the same time, Integra stock increased from about $12 a share to about $28 a share for a hypothetical profit of nearly $68,000.

Another Shriner executive paid back a $100,000 mortgage, which was about 40% of his annual salary, from July, 2002 to July, 2003. During the same time, Integra stock prices went from about $17.50 a share to nearly $25 a share for a hypothetical profit of $36,000.

Another Shriner executive took out a mortgage for $1 million in February, 1996 and paid it back ten years later on October, 27, 2006. Integra prices coincided from $23.50 a share up to $37.13 a share for a possible profit of over $580,000.

The same executive took out a mortgage for $300,000 in October, 2000 and repaid it on the same day, October, 27, 2006. Integra prices coincided from about $11.36 a share up to $37.13 a share for a possible profit of $680,000.

The same executive took out a mortgage for $140,000 on September 18, 1996 and repaid it on the same day, October 27, 2006. Integra prices coincided from about $13.75 a share to $37.13 a share for a possible profit of $238,000, for a combined hypothetical profit of about $1.5 million.

Other unusual mortgages don't seem to be tied to anything but our curiosity as to how executives of a non profit charity can consistently repay their mortgages so quickly?

One former Shriner executive took out a $150,000 mortgage on March 10, 1987 and repaid it about three months later on June 12, 1987. Another Shriner executive took out a mortgage for $142,000 on July 3, 1996 and paid it back in about two and a half years on December 22, 1998.

So, is any of this illegal?

Probably not, except that the Shriners Hospitals for Children should have disclosed much of this information on their tax returns including:

·Program achievements, including the patents.

·A million dollar grant given in 2003 to Shriners Cincinnati Burns Hospital from the First Third Bank.

· A wrongful death lawsuit.

·Over 40 malpractice lawsuits, some settled in 2006, 2005, 2004 and 2001.

·Personal mortgages given to executives and employees.

In re-examining a scenario now landscaped with FDA violations, malpractice lawsuits, incomplete tax returns and a naggingly unusual pattern of mortgage activity, who will now wonder:

"Did anyone in a position of public trust use inside information obtained from research conducted at non profit facilities for their own personal gain?"

Only the FDA, the IRS and Securities and Exchange Commission can know for sure.

Blackwater too Hardcore for International Mercenary Association

The International Peace Operations Association, which is the trade association for mercenaries inspired by the efforts of mercenary group Executive Outcomes to end the Sierra Leone Civil War, has parted ways with Blackwater. Apparently Blackwater doesn't want to follow the group's conduct code, the "set of ethical and professional guidelines for companies in the peace and stability operations industry." Initially Blackwater, a member in good standing since 2004, agreed to be reviewed by the group after the accusations that the company killed 17 Iraqis in Baghdad last month. Now they don't want to be reviewed.

I've read a bunch of liberal books recently that touch on mercenaries and their politically threatening overtones: The End of America, Blackwater, and the Shock Doctrine.

Really, though, it's not too hard to see how private armies that have been deployed both abroad and on American soil with secret government contracts controlled by right-wing Christian donors to the GOP that immunize these firms from liability are probably dangerous.

I'm just a hippie blogger though and this is probably not bipartisan enough.

UPDATE: Progressive caucus member Jan Schakowsky has led on this and has a bill in the House called the Stop Outsourcing Security Act, HR4102, which would defund Blackwater.

William Kristol, the New York Times and Nazi Gunter d'Alquen

It was an offhand remark, in 1971, by a Penn State professor to his political science students, that prompted me to become a devoted reader, then decades-long subscriber, to the New York Times: "If you don't read the New York Times, you can't begin to know what's occurring in the U.S. and the world." Over the years, I found overwhelming evidence -- much of it amusing and delightful -- to support his claim, even as I suppressed my suspicions that the "Old Grey Lady" was pimping for a muscular U.S. presence around the world. For years I lived with the conceit that sophisticated people spent much of their weekend mornings reading Sunday's Times

But, my-oh-my, how "Times" have changed! First, copy-cat journalism by Times' "wannabes" undermined the paper's claim to be the "paper of record." Subsequently, that reputation was further eroded - as was the general appeal of newspapers - by the emergence and widespread appeal of "24/7" cable and internet news. Finally, the Times suffered severe self-inflicted wounds - by such dishonest reporters as Jayson Blair and Judith Miller - from which it has yet to recover.

The final straw for me, however, was the December 30, 2007 decision by the Times to hire William Kristol (editor of the Weekly Standard) as a columnist. Although the Times calls Kristol a conservative, he is, in fact, a notorious neoconservative - a member of a political cult that many traditional conservatives disavow. Readers who noticed this Orwellian elision by the Times might also recall that in January 1998, Kristol (and Robert Kagan) wrote an Op Ed titled, "Bombing Iraq isn't Enough," which the Times was reckless enough to publish.

Reckless? Yes, because, as Robert Parry has observed: "Under principles of international law applied from Nuremberg to Rwanda, propagandists who contribute to war crimes or encourage crimes against humanity can be put in the dock alongside the actual killers." [Consortium News, Posted August 21, 2006] Simply recall that, under international law, the unprovoked invasion of another sovereign state is considered the most egregious of war crimes.

The decision by the Times to hire this effete, cowardly warmonger smacks of rank hypocrisy, especially when one considers that in May 2004, the Times issued an "apology" to its readers for "problematic articles" that "depended at least in part on information from a circle of Iraqi informants, defectors and exiles bent on 'regime change' in Iraq, people whose credibility has come under in creasing public debate in recent weeks." Yet, who has made more bogus warmongering assertions about Iraq than William Kristol? Who has less credibility today than William Kristol?

As I've written elsewhere, "According to Scott McConnell, in the very first issue published after 9/11, the Weekly Standard 'laid down a line from which the magazine would not waver over the next 18 months.' Their line was 'to link Saddam Hussein and Osama bin Laden in virtually every paragraph, to join them at the hip in the minds of readers, and then lay out a strategy that actually gave attacking Saddam priority over eliminating al Qaeda.' [McConnell, "The Weekly Standard's War," The American Conservative, September 21, 2005]"

With this immorality, hypocrisy and criminality in mind, I called the New York Times this morning to cancel my subscription. One might pity that poor customer representative who handled my call. As I spewed invective against her employer, all she could do was apologize, ask me to spell the name of the columnist I found so offensive (K-R-I-S-T-O-L) and urge me to "have a nice day. Thank you for calling the New York Times."

Having cancelled my subscription, I then sent the following email to the Times' Executive Editor and the VP for Circulation:

"I canceled my subscription to the New York Times -- with prejudice -- a few minutes ago. I've terminated my decades-long subscription because somebody at the Times made the immoral decision to hire William Kristol -- as close to a war criminal as a so-called "journalist" can become. You see, I can have nothing further to do with such a morally tainted newspaper. It's a matter of principle.

You might use this moment to reflect on how the reporting by Judith Miller (AKA stenography for Perle and Chalabi) and your editorial decision to delay reporting on Bush's illegal wiretaps contributed to America's poor moral standing around the world. Now, with the hiring of effete coward and warmonger Kristol, who (possessing any morals at all) can consider the Times to be anything but a whore?

I will use my website to inform my thousands of readers about your immoral decision and I will exhort them to cancel their subscriptions as well.

After all, simply consider that, ten years after the end of World War II, the editor of Das Schwarze Korps, Nazi SS leader Gunter d'Alquen, was fined 60,000 Deutsch Marks, "deprived of all civic rights for three years and debarred from drawing an allowance or pension from public funds. He was found guilty of having played an important role in the Third Reich, of war propaganda, inciting against the churches, the Jews and foreign countries, and incitement to murder." Think about it: If you do something similarly egregious in Bush's Amerika, you get your own column at the New York Times.

2008: The year a new superpower is born

Here comes the world's newest superpower. The rest of the world is gloomily contemplating economic slowdown and even recession. Not in Beijing. China is set to make 2008 the year it asserts its status as a global colossus by flexing frightening economic muscle on international markets, enjoying unprecedented levels of domestic consumption and showcasing itself to a watching world with a glittering £20bn Olympic Games.

The world's most populous nation will mark the next 12 months with a coming-of-age party that will confirm its transformation in three decades from one of the poorest countries of the 20th century into the globe's third-largest economy, its hungriest (and most polluting) consumer and the engine room of economic growth.

Once regarded at best as a sporting also-ran, China is widely tipped to top the medals table in the Beijing Olympics in August, an event in which the country's leadership is investing huge importance and prestige.

It will be a celebration viewed with consternation by many, as China's authoritarian regime shows little sign of relaxing its grip on power and continues to expand its influence overseas from the oil fields and metal mines of Africa to the City of London. Appropriately, 2008 marks the Year of the Rat, an animal considered in Chinese folklore to be a harbinger and protector of material prosperity.

Britain will feel the full power of the new superpower's confidence. This month, for the first time, China's state-controlled banks will begin spending some of its $1.33trn (£670bn) in foreign currency reserves on London's financial markets. Beijing has ruled that Britain should become only the second destination after Hong Kong to be allowed to receive investors' money via so-called "sovereign funds" – the huge state-controlled surpluses built up by cash-rich economies from Qatar to South Korea. Throw in the biggest round of Chinese art exhibitions ever to tour these islands and the oriental bias to 2008 becomes even more pronounced.

The UK has made it clear that Beijing's investment, which could reach as much as £45bn, is welcome and it follows the recent acquisition by Chinese banks of stakes in such blue chip stocks as Barclays and the US private equity firm Blackstone, at a cost of $3bn. The talk in the finance houses is that the label "Made in China" will soon be replaced by one reading "Owned by China". Takeover speculation has provoked concern in some quarters at the wisdom of selling large assets to organs of a democratically unaccountable state where the financial sector remains underdeveloped.

China's trade surplus with the rest of the world will widen from £130bn in 2007 to £145bn this year as it tries to tame its burgeoning economy amid pressure from Washington and Brussels to narrow the trade gap and raise its currency's value.

Stephen Perry, chairman of the 48 Group Club, a Sino-British business network, said: "China has become an international player much more quickly than it would have wanted to do, in part to meet its need for natural resources. But I don't think China has any intention of taking on American power. The West is important to China in this stage of its development as it seeks inward investment. But that is beginning to be much less important and it is looking more to the development of a strong Asia, in which it is one of the strongest players because of its enormous consumer base."

But while some may question Beijing's political motives, there is no doubt that China has arrived as serious power-broker. Last year, it surpassed America as the greatest driver of global economic demand. It is also widely predicted to overtake Germany as the world's third largest economy this year.

While nearly all of its success since Premier Deng Xiaoping began China's economic transformation in 1978 has been driven by producing goods for the outside world, the country has a burgeoning urban middle-class whose insatiable appetite for consumer durables is hoped to put the economy on a more stable footing. One London-based luxury markets analyst said: "The Chinese are waking up to quality brands in a way that is quite exciting. There is a real sense that what the West once kept to itself is now available to them, or at least the urban few who can afford it."

The arrival of conspicuous consumption and entry of Shanghai's sovereign funds into foreign investment markets, with London soon expected to be followed by the US, is symptomatic of a China increasingly willing to assert itself as a political and cultural influence, according to experts.

From global warming to Darfur and North Korea, the views of Beijing and its willingness to act have become prerequisites to any solution to the world's most pressing problems.

The Chinese New Year on 7 February will herald the beginning of the largest-ever festival of China's culture in Britain with an accent on contemporary artists in fields from video art to neon signs. But others warn 2008 has as much potential to be a disaster as a triumph for Beijing's attempts to herald its own arrival on the world stage. The Chinese capital will host 31,000 journalists for the Olympics and any sign of protest or an attempt to quell dissent with violence would be catastrophic.

The drum beat of protectionism is already sounding in America and will only get louder in a presidential election year, putting pressure on both Republican and Democratic candidates to take a "strong" stance on China. In the meantime, Beijing will have to grapple with issues from rising inflation to Taiwan, which holds presidential elections in March, to its status as the world's biggest emitter of carbon dioxide and likely role as the largest consumer of primary energy resources.

Dr Kerry Brown, associate fellow of the Royal Institute of International Affairs, said: "There are good reasons to feel pretty uncomfortable about 2008 for China. The world will be rightly watching China in August for the Olympics. But it will only take one truncheon blow to turn it away from a story about sport to one about repression."

The Iowa caucus is only a few days away and the nation's attention will be directed to the results, which signify the beginning of the U.S. presidential race. But does anyone watch who tallies the results of the Iowa caucus?

The Iowa caucus results were tallied in 2004 by a company that is headed by a man whose company was bought by Elron Electronics, the Israeli defense firm. I suspect that it will be the same this year. Don't expect to see any grassroots political activists doing the tally in Iowa. The Israeli defense establishment takes care of that part of the American "democratic" election process.

In the summer of 2004, I first learned that a foreign and out-of-state company using Interactive Voice Response (IVR) technology tallied the Iowa caucus results.

The system used to tally the 2004 Iowa caucus results was provided by a company called Voxeo, which was apparently based in Orlando, Florida. (Yellow flag goes up in the mind of those familiar with Orlando and electronic vote fraud history. See Bollyn article on Wang below.)

The calls from the nearly 2,000 caucus centers in Iowa went to a Voxeo call center in Atlanta, Georgia.

On January 31, 2005, I wrote to Michelle Bauer, Iowa's Secretary of State with some questions about the use of Voxeo, a foreign company located in Florida, to tally the results of the Iowa caucus:

Subject: How was the Iowa Caucus Tallied?

Dear Sirs,

When I visited the headquarters of the Democratic Party in Des Moines last summer, I learned that the tally of the Iowa caucus had been "out-sourced" to a company in Atlanta, Georgia.

What this means is that the tallying of the Iowa caucus results was done over the telephone, using the touch-tone buttons, to enter the results from each caucus locationS

I am interested in how this was done, and why. Why did the Democratic Party allow the crucial tally of the caucus results to be done by a company in Atlanta? Don't they trust their own math skills?

Can any of you provide any information about this matter?

Unfortunately, you either received some incorrect information in your travels or are confused. The Iowa Democratic Party completed all of the caucus night tabulations in Iowa, in the Des Moines/Polk County Convention Center, which was the Caucus night HQ. In fact, our tech staff wrote the software that tabulated the results.

To answer your second to last question, we feel we have a comfortable grasp of mathematics.

I wrote this note back to Mr. Milligan:


Dear Mr. Milligan,

I am responding to you about how the caucus results for the Iowa Democratic Party were tallied on the night of the nation's first caucus. After checking my sources, I can assure you that it is correct that an out-of-state telephone/computer system tallied the Iowa precinct results.

The system used was provided by Voxeo Corporation based in Orlando, Florida. The calls went from Iowa to a call center in Atlanta, Georgia.

This information was first provided to me last August by John McCormally, Communications Director for the Iowa Democratic Party in Des Moines, Iowa.

Today I called Voxeo (800) 305-5771 in Orlando and although I didn't go into detail, the receptionist confirmed that Voxeo had conducted the telephone tally of the Iowa Democratic Caucus results.

How is it that you don't know that?

McCormally told me that chairmen were selected in all 1,993 precincts and these chairmen called in on touch-tone phones and after giving their PIN number, were able to enter the results from their precinct using the touch-tone number pad.

I'm not going to go into great detail at this point, but this procedure of using an out-of-state computer company to tally the precinct results for the Iowa Democratic Caucus lacks the transparency and openness that one might expect in this exercise in grass-roots poll.

Clearly, if someone wanted to adjust the results, it would be the easiest thing to do to do it through this computer system in Orlando, Florida. The Democrats in Iowa would never be aware of it, regardless of their math skills, unless the paper results were carefully audited in an open and honest manner.

Now, who really is Voxeo, and why are the Iowa caucus results tallied by them? I don't know if the 2008 Iowa results will be tallied in the same way, but I wouldn't doubt it.

Voxeo is headed by Jonathan Taylor, who is the company's President and CEO. This is what his Voxeo webpage says about him:

There you have it. Jonathan Taylor's company, which he founded, was taken over by Elron Electronic Industries, the Israeli defense high tech company:

This is important information that Americans need to know and which they will not find in the Zionist-controlled media in the United States. It needs to be understood that the entire election process in the United States is a fraud. More than that, it is a fraud that is being perpetrated by the Israeli defense establishment on the naïve and gullible American public.

The sine qua non of an honest and transparent election process is the open counting of the votes by the voters themselves in each polling station in front of the open eyes of other citizens and members of the media. Any compromise in this most fundamental and essential process which acts to remove the citizenry from the vote-counting process simply cannot be accepted.

This is what Americans MUST get back to, in every polling station in the nation: paper ballots that are hand counted in front of the public.

Nothing else will do to protect their democratic franchise in the United States - NOTHING.

Reporter Chris Bollyn Proves Why WE Must Watch and PUBLISH Iowa Count! December 31st

This article focusus on the DEMOCRATIC PARTY process in 2004, which probably explains how John Kerry went from no where to "winner" in the Iowa Caucus that year.
