Media Yawns As Impeachment Offered

On Monday evening, Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) took to the floor of the House of Representatives to read out 35 articles of impeachment against President George W. Bush in an almost five-hour marathon.
Kucinich's action made an immediate splash on the Internet. For example, at progressive website Democratic Underground, the historic performance quickly garnered an astonishing 56 separate threads on the most-recommended list.
By noon on Tuesday, RAW STORY's article on the subject was the top political story of the day at digg.com and the 10th most popular for the last year. A separate article at afterdowningstreet.org was also high in the ratings. Both sites, as well as Kucinich's own webpage, were experiencing slowdowns due to the volume of traffic.
However, the mainstream media were far more reticent in their coverage of Kucinich's resolution -- much as they were following the release last week of the Senate Intelligence Committee's report on the administration's misuse of prewar intelligence. For example, the Washington Post and USA Today had short items in their blog sections, while other major outlets merely ran wire service coverage from AP or Reuters.
Kucinich supporter John Kusumi responded angrily at OpEdNews, writing, "The most important thing going happened on Monday night. An event that matters greatly to the course of history and to all Americans. Did you hear about it? Did ABC, CBS, and NBC break into normal programming with special coverage? Are there special alerts and bulletins on the cable news networks, where people can see them? No, no, and no!"
NewsHounds was equally scathing, saying, "So, what if they impeached the president and nobody reported it? As of 3AM EDT the goddam liberal media is largely silent on Dennis Kucinich's introduction of Articles of Impeachment on the floor of the House last night. Are they afraid of getting it 'wrong'? Just report it, as does RawStory. ... No matter what you think of it, this is news. News. Relevant, important, history-making news. It was live, on C-Span. Reality TV. Yet our most famous, trusted, 24/7/365 cable news media outlets are asleep at the wheel - or holding back. Neither is a good option."
More considered analysis of the actual political and historical significance of Kucinich's move was mixed. At The Huffington Post, political historian Joseph A. Palermo, the author of Robert F. Kennedy And the Death of American Idealism, headlined a blog entry "Dennis Kucinich Makes History Again - Impeach Bush!"
Palermo wrote, "Kucinich's lengthy and detailed indictment of this wayward president is the most thorough and powerful case made to date. He outlined a litany of high crimes and misdemeanors and showed without a shadow of a doubt that George W. Bush deserves to be impeached and removed from office. Kucinich made clear that Bush has violated his oath of office and his Constitutional duty that the laws be 'faithfully executed.'"
In contrast, Salon.com's political blogger, Alex Koppelman, wrote dismissively, "Some liberals in the blogosphere are complaining about the dearth of coverage of Kucinich's resolution. I have to disagree -- as I've pointed out before, when discussing complaints of liberal bias from the right, the media is in the business of covering news. This barely qualifies; if it deserves mention in the mainstream media at all, it certainly doesn't deserve to be accorded the status of something big and breaking. I'm sorry, but the action of a lone congressman who's widely considered something of a laughingstock, especially when it's clear that action will never come to anything, just isn't especially newsworthy."
Jim Trakas, Kucinich's Republican opponent in next fall's Congressional election also took the opportunity to blast his rival, complaining that "on the day his constituents first started paying $4 for a gallon of gasoline, Congressman Kucinich uses his time and efforts for more political games and not trying to solve the real problems in Washington."

G8 Energy Ministers Look Inward On Oil

Group of Eight energy ministers looked inward for solutions to record oil prices on Sunday, touting the need for domestic efficiency rather than piling pressure on a resistant OPEC to pump more crude.
Oil prices posted their biggest ever one-day surge on Friday, leaping more than $10 to a record high above $139 a barrel.
Soaring oil costs dampen global economic growth, worsen inflationary pressure and raise the risk of more protests by fishermen, truck drivers and others whose livelihoods are under threat.
Caught between mounting popular discontent at home and the need to invest billions in greener energy to cut world carbon emissions, the G8 ministers offered few new ideas for heads of state to consider at their summit next month.
"(On) energy efficiency and energy diversification, we all recognize that tremendous progress is being made but more has to be done," said Gary Lunn, Canada's Natural Resources Minister.
In a group ranging from top oil consumer the United States to No. 2 exporter Russia, few had expected the meeting to result in measures that could stem oil's six-year rally, which has gathered pace this year as investors fear the world will struggle to produce enough crude to meet demand in the decades ahead.
However, their message appeared to reflect a growing acceptance that consumer nations must find ways to temper their own demand by focusing on technology, conservation and diversification rather than hounding OPEC to pump ever more oil, as Australia's prime minister urged earlier in the day.
The group of G8 ministers plus non-G8 guests China, India and South Korea, which together consume two-thirds of the world's energy, said they shared "serious concerns" over the cost of oil.
Analysts said they were on the right track.
"This is the right development and this will...improve the supply and demand balance in the medium- and long-term, but it won't have an immediate impact on prices," said Toshinori Ito, senior analyst at UBS Securities Japan.
"Oil prices are surging not because of a supply shortage, but because of massive liquidity," Ito said, referring to the influx of financial funds into markets, helped by low interest rates.
The G8 comprises the United States, Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Russia and Japan.

Oil has doubled in a year and risen 44 percent since January, forcing developing countries such as Indonesia and India into unpopular fuel prices rises while richer nations ponder how to soften the blow of soaring energy costs for the vulnerable.
South Korea on Sunday became one of the first countries to cave in to public pressure, announcing a $10 billion one-year handout to help 14 million low-income earners.
The issue is certain to hang over G8 leaders when they meet in Japan early next month, a summit where host Japan hopes to win backing for a target to halve carbon emissions by 2050.
The energy ministers agreed on the need for more large-scale carbon capture and storage (CCS) projects that bury emissions from power plants, a cornerstone of the International Energy Agency's call for a $45 trillion energy "revolution."
"The time for talking is over. We have to implement this," British Business Minister John Hutton told Reuters in an interview, referring to the IEA goals.
The IEA report released on Friday, commissioned by G8 leaders three years ago, said the world would need to effectively "decarbonize" the power sector by building dozens of billion-dollar CCS plants over the next 40 years, although world governments remain at odds over who should foot the bill.
About 190 nations are racing to craft a framework by the end of 2009 to succeed the Kyoto Protocol, a U.N. pact aimed at fighting climate change by mandating emissions curbs. The first phase, which ends in 2012, commits only 37 industrialized nations to emissions curbs between 2008-12. The aim of the replacement pact for Kyoto is to bind all nations to cuts.
Not everyone has given up hope on the supply side.
Speaking before a trip to Japan on Sunday, Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd urged the G8 to "apply the blow-torch" to the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries, but G8 energy ministers appeared unwilling to take that route. OPEC officials have repeatedly rebuffed such calls over the past year, saying that the market remains well-supplied and that soaring prices are beyond its control.
Top-exporter Saudi Arabia has said it will increase output this summer to help meet peak demand, but oil prices have carried on rising as investors rush into commodities as a hedge against the dollar's fall and inflation.
In the end, some ministers conceded they were powerless to fight the flow of financial capital.
"There are relatively few things we can do short term," U.S. Energy Secretary Sam Bodman told reporters on Saturday.

Next Phase of the Credit Crisis to Hit Credit Default Swaps $62 Trillion Market

While attention has been focused on the relatively tiny US „sub-prime“ home mortgage default crisis as the center of the current financial and credit crisis impacting the Anglo-Saxon banking world, a far larger problem is now coming into focus. Sub-prime or high-risk Collateralized Mortgage Obligations, CMOs as they are called, are only the tip of a colossal iceberg of dodgy credits which are beginning to go sour. The next crisis is already beginning in the $62 TRILLION market for Credit Default Swaps. You never heard of them? It's time to take a look, then.
The next phase of the unravelling crisis in the US-centered “revolution in finance” is emerging in the market for arcane instruments known as Credit Default Swaps or CDS. Wall Street bankers always have to have a short name for these things.
As I pointed out in detail in my earlier exclusive series, the Financial Tsunami, Parts I-V, the Credit Default Swap was invented a few years ago by a young Cambridge University mathematics graduate, Blythe Masters, hired by J.P. Morgan Chase Bank in New York . The then-fresh university graduate convinced her bosses at Morgan Chase to develop a revolutionary new risk product, the CDS as it soon became known.
A Credit Default Swap is a credit derivative or agreement between two counterparties, in which one makes periodic payments to the other and gets promise of a payoff if a third party defaults. The first party gets credit protection, a kind of insurance, and is called the "buyer." The second party gives credit protection and is called the "seller". The third party, the one that might go bankrupt or default, is known as the "reference entity." CDS's became staggeringly popular as credit risks exploded during the last seven years in the United States . Banks argued that with CDS they could spread risk around the globe.
Credit default swaps resemble an insurance policy, as they can be used by debt owners to hedge, or insure against a default on a debt. However, because there is no requirement to actually hold any asset or suffer a loss, credit default swaps can also be used for speculative purposes.
Warren Buffett once described derivatives bought speculatively as "financial weapons of mass destruction." In his Berkshire Hathaway annual report to shareholders he said "Unless derivatives contracts are collateralized or guaranteed, their ultimate value depends on the creditworthiness of the counterparties. In the meantime, though, before a contract is settled, the counterparties record profits and losses -often huge in amount- in their current earnings statements without so much as a penny changing hands. The range of derivatives contracts is limited only by the imagination of man (or sometimes, so it seems, madmen)." A typical CDO is for five years term.
Like many exotic financial products which are extremely complex and profitable in times of easy credit, when markets reverse, as has been the case since August 2007, in addition to spreading risk, credit derivatives, in this case, also amplify risk considerably.
Now the other shoe is about to drop in the $62 trillion CDS market due to rising junk bond defaults by US corporations as the recession deepens. That market has long been a disaster in the making. An estimated $1,2 trillion could be at risk of the nominal $62 trillion in CDOs outstanding, making it far larger than the sub-prime market.
No regulation
A chain reaction of failures in the CDS market could trigger the next global financial crisis. The market is entirely unregulated, and there are no public records showing whether sellers have the assets to pay out if a bond defaults. This so-called counterparty risk is a ticking time bomb. The US Federal Reserve under the ultra-permissive chairman, Alan Greenspan and the US Government's financial regulators allowed the CDS market to develop entirely without any supervision. Greenspan repeatedly testified to skeptical Congressmen that banks are better risk regulators than government bureaucrats.
The Fed bailout of Bear Stearns on March 17 was motivated, in part, by a desire to keep the unknown risks of that bank's Credit Default Swaps from setting off a global chain reaction that might have brought the financial system down. The Fed's fear was that because they didn't adequately monitor counterparty risk in credit-default swaps, they had no idea what might happen. Thank Alan Greenspan for that.
Those counterparties include JPMorgan Chase, the largest seller and buyer of CDSs.
The Fed only has supervision to regulated bank CDS exposures, but not that of investment banks or hedge funds, both of which are significant CDS issuers. Hedge funds, for instance, are estimated to have written 31% in CDS protection.
The credit-default-swap market has been mainly untested until now. The default rate in January 2002, when the swap market was valued at $1.5 trillion, was 10.7 percent, according to Moody's Investors Service. But Fitch Ratings reported in July 2007 that 40 percent of CDS protection sold worldwide was on companies or securities that are rated below investment grade, up from 8 percent in 2002.
A surge in corporate defaults will now leave swap buyers trying to collect hundreds of billions of dollars from their counterparties. This will to complicate the financial crisis, triggering numerous disputes and lawsuits, as buyers battle sellers over the technical definition of default - - this requires proving which bond or loan holders weren't paid -- and the amount of payments due. Some fear that could in turn freeze up the financial system.
Experts inside the CDS market believe now that the crisis will likely start with hedge funds that will be unable to pay banks for contracts tied to at least $150 billion in defaults. Banks will try to pre-empt this default disaster by demanding hedge funds put up more collateral for potential losses. That will not work as many of the funds won't have the cash to meet the banks' demands for more collateral.
Sellers of protection aren't required by law to set aside reserves in the CDS market. While banks ask protection sellers to put up some money when making the trade, there are no industry standards. It would be the equivalent of a licensed insurance company selling insurance protection against hurricane damage with no reserves against potential claims.
Basle BIS worried
The Basle Bank for International Settlements, the supervisory organization of the world's major central banks is alarmed at the dangers. The Joint Forum of the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision, an international group of banking, insurance and securities regulators, wrote in April that the trillions of dollars in swaps traded by hedge funds pose a threat to financial markets around the world.
``It is difficult to develop a clear picture of which institutions are the ultimate holders of some of the credit risk transferred,'' the report said. ``It can be difficult even to quantify the amount of risk that has been transferred.''
Counterparty risk can become complicated in a hurry. In a typical CDS deal, a hedge fund will sell protection to a bank, which will then resell the same protection to another bank, and such dealing will continue, sometimes in a circle. That has created a huge concentration of risk. As one leading derivatives trader expressed the process, “The risk keeps spinning around and around in this daisy chain like a vortex. There are only six to 10 dealers who sit in the middle of all this. I don't think the regulators have the information that they need to work that out.''
Traders, and even the banks that serve as dealers, don't always know exactly what is covered by a credit-default-swap contract. There are numerous types of CDSs, some far more complex than others. More than half of all CDSs cover indexes of companies and debt securities, such as asset-backed securities, the Basel committee says. The rest include coverage of a single company's debt or collateralized debt obligations...
Banks usually send hedge funds, insurance companies and other institutional investors e-mails throughout the day with bid and offer prices, as there is no regulated exchange to pricess the market or to insure against loss. To find the price of a swap on Ford Motor Co. debt, for example, even sophisticated investors might have to search through all of their daily e-mails.
Banks want secrecy
Banks have a vested interest in keeping the swaps market opaque, because as dealers, the banks have a high volume of transactions, giving them an edge over other buyers and sellers. Since customers don't necessarily know where the market is, you can charge them much wider profit margins.
Banks try to balance the protection they've sold with credit-default swaps they purchase from others, either on the same companies or indexes. They can also create synthetic CDOs, which are packages of credit-default swaps the banks sell to investors to get themselves protection.
The idea for the banks is to make a profit on each trade and avoid taking on the swap's risk. As one CDO dealer puts it, “Dealers are just like bookies. Bookies don't want to bet on games. Bookies just want to balance their books. That's why they're called bookies.”
Now as the economy contracts and bankruptcies spread across the United States and beyond, there's a high probability that many who bought swap protection will wind up in court trying to get their payouts. If things are collapsing left and right, people will use any trick they can.
Last year, the Chicago Mercantile Exchange set up a federally regulated, exchange-based market to trade CDSs. So far, it hasn't worked. It's been boycotted by banks, which prefer to continue their trading privately.

Companies accused of 'profiteering' as they attempt to patent crop genes

Giant biotech companies are privatising the world's protection against climate change by filing hundreds of monopoly patents on genes that help crops resist it, a new investigation has concluded.
The study – by the authoritative Action Group on Erosion, Technology and Concentration (ETC Group), based in Ottawa, Canada – has found that nine firms have filed at least 532 patents around the world on about 55 different genes offering protection against heat, drought and floods. If granted, the companies would be given control of crucial natural raw material needed to maintain food supplies in an increasingly hungry world.
Last week, as world leaders met in Rome to discuss the food crisis, GM companies promoted their technologies as the answer to hunger. On Thursday, Monsanto – the biggest and most controversial firm – announced a "commitment" to increase food production, partly by developing crops that need less water.
"Together we must meet the needs for increased food, fibre and energy, while preserving the environment," said the company's head, Hugh Grant. "These commitments represent the beginning of a journey that we will expand on and deepen in the years ahead."
The ETC Group calls this "an opportunistic public relations strategy", adding: "Monsanto's business is selling patented seeds for industrial agriculture – not addressing a humanitarian food crisis."
The report of its investigation shows that Monsanto and BASF – which last year announced a $1.5bn "collaboration" to develop new GM crops, including "ones more tolerant to adverse environmental conditions such as drought" – have between them filed patents for 27 of the 55 genes. Others had been filed by companies such as Bayer, Syngenta and Dow.
The reports says some of the applications are sweeping. One would cover more than 30 crops from oats to oil palms, triticale to tea, and potatoes to perennial grass – "in other words, virtually all food crops".
It says the "corporate grab on climate-tolerant genes" means that "a handful of transnational companies are now positioned to determine who gets access to key genetic traits and what price they must pay".
Small farmers in developing countries will be particularly hard hit by such "climate-change profiteering". Patenting will make the crops expensive and ensure that poor farmers have to buy them every year, by prohibiting them from saving seeds from one harvest to grow for the next.
According to the report, conventional, non-GM breeding techniques are making remarkable progress in developing crops that can tolerate heat, floods and drought. A new Asian rice, due to go on the market next year, can stand being submerged for two weeks without affecting yields, while a new African one flowers early in the morning, escaping the heat of the day.
But, it says, "the patent grab is sucking up money and resources that could be spent on affordable, farmer-based strategies for survival".
It concludes: "These patented technologies will ultimately concentrate corporate power, drive up costs, inhibit independent research and further undermine the rights of farmers to save and exchange seeds".
But Croplife, which represents the world's plant-science industry, retorts; "Patenting is very important. That is how we protect intellectual property and ensure we continue to bring new innovations to the marketplace." It denies that biotechnology companies are seeking to monopolise world food supplies.

IN A JOINT STATEMENT on May 23 2008 the Chinese & Russian Presidents, Hu Jintao & Dmitri Medvedev, condemned US plans for a global missile defense system. Moscow & Beijing have forged closer ties in recent years to counterbalance Washington’s global dominance.
In December of 2007 China signed an agreement with Iran to develop its Yadavaran Oil Field. China, with veto power in the UN Security Council, has resisted pressure from the US to impose sanctions on Iran. China’s search for energy resources to meet rising consumption is now centered on Iran’s rich oil resources which they would be hard pressed to surrender.
Added to this, on December 28 2007, Russia sent its second shipment of nuclear fuel to Iran’s Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant located 750 miles south of Tehran. In March of 2008 it was announced that Iran will buy 100 airliners from Russia which doubtless will include a military venue. The Jews who run the Council On Foreign Relations in America have noted that Russia’s flow of conventional weapons into Iran has taken place over the past 7 years.
QUESTION: Is the China-Russia-Iran Axis evincing a common agenda against the US? Is all of this activity, in spite of US sanctions against Iran, demonstrating that the US is being played?
BEATING PLOW SHARES INTO SWORDS
AIPAC IS USING ITS JEWISH INFLUENCE ($$$) to push through the Jewish sponsored The Iran Counter Proliferation Act. This Bill would subject Russia to specified prohibition actions against Iran unless Moscow suspends its nuclear assistance and transfers of missiles to Iran.
But rather than fostering Russian cooperation - the Bill will indeed strengthen Putin’s resolve to assist Iran. And evident to anyone with half a brain, US sanctions on Iran have had a no effect whatsoever.

SASKATOON, Sask. — Today, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) released its first projections of world grain supply and demand for the coming crop year: 2007/08. USDA predicts supplies will plunge to a 53-day equivalent—their lowest level in the 47-year period for which data exists.
Photo from istock photo."The USDA projects global grain supplies will drop to their lowest levels on record. Further, it is likely that, outside of wartime, global grain supplies have not been this low in a century, perhaps longer," said NFU Director of Research Darrin Qualman.
Most important, 2007/08 will mark the seventh year out of the past eight in which global grain production has fallen short of demand. This consistent shortfall has cut supplies in half—down from a 115-day supply in 1999/00 to the current level of 53 days. "The world is consistently failing to produce as much grain as it uses," said Qualman. He continued: "The current low supply levels are not the result of a transient weather event or an isolated production problem: low supplies are the result of a persistent drawdown trend."
In addition to falling grain supplies, global fisheries are faltering. Reports in respected journals Science and Nature state that 1/3 of ocean fisheries are in collapse, 2/3 will be in collapse by 2025, and our ocean fisheries may be virtually gone by 2048. "Aquatic food systems are collapsing and terrestrial food systems are under tremendous stress," said Qualman.
Demand for food is rising rapidly. There is a worldwide push to proliferate a North- American-style-meat-based diet based on intensive livestock production—turning feedgrains into meat in this way means exchanging 3 to 7 kilos of grain protein for one kilo of meat protein.
Population is rising—2.5 billion people will join the global population in the coming decades. "Every six years, we're adding to the world the equivalent of a North American population. We're trying to feed those extra people, feed a growing livestock herd, and now, feed our cars, all from a static farmland base. No one should be surprised that food production can't keep up," said Qualman.
Qualman said that the converging problems of natural gas and fertilizer constraints, intensifying water shortages, climate change, farmland loss and degradation, population increases, the proliferation of livestock feeding, and an increasing push to divert food supplies into biofuels means that we are in the opening phase of an intensifying food shortage.
Qualman cautioned, however, that there are no easy fixes. "If we try to do more of the same, if we try to produce, consume, and export more food while using more fertilizer, water, and chemicals, we will only intensify our problems. Instead, we need to rethink our relation to food, farmers, production, processing, and distribution. We need to create a system focused on feeding people and creating health. We need to strengthen the food production systems around the world. Diversity, resilience and sustainability are key," concluded Qualman.

New agreement lets US strike any country from inside Iraq

Baghdad: A proposed Iraqi-American security agreement will include permanent American bases in the country, and the right for the United States to strike, from within Iraqi territory, any country it considers a threat to its national security, Gulf News has learned.
Senior Iraqi military sources have told Gulf News that the long-term controversial agreement is likely to include three major items.
Under the agreement, Iraqi security institutions such as Defence, Interior and National Security ministries, as well as armament contracts, will be under American supervision for ten years.
The agreement is also likely to give American forces permanent military bases in the country, as well as the right to move against any country considered to be a threat against world stability or acting against Iraqi or American interests.
The military source added, "According to this agreement, the American forces will keep permanent military bases on Iraqi territory, and these will include Al Asad Military base in the Baghdadi area close to the Syrian border, Balad military base in northern Baghdad close to Iran, Habbaniyah base close to the town of Fallujah and the Ali Bin Abi Talib military base in the southern province of Nasiriyah close to the Iranian border."
The sources confirmed that the American army is in the process of completing the building of the military facilities and runways for the permanent bases.
He added that the American air bases in Kirkuk and Mosul will be kept for no longer than three years. However, he said there were efforts by the Americans to include the Kirkuk base in the list of permanent bases.
The sources also said that a British brigade was expected to remain at the international airport in Basra for ten years as long as the American troops stayed in the permanent bases in Iraq.
Iraqi analysts said that the second item of the controversial agreement which permits American forces on Iraqi territories to launch military attacks against any country it considers a threat is addressed primarily to Iran and Syria.
Iran has raised serious concerns in the past few days over the Iraqi-American security agreement and followed it with issuing religious fatwas and called for demonstrations, mainly by the powerful Shiite leader Moqtada Al Sadr movement, who is close to Iran, against the agreement.

When the mass media all start hollering about the same thing, at the same time, WATCH OUT! They would have you believe that one medical doctor/biomedical scientist is somehow the "lone assassin" in the anthrax deaths and illnesses following Black Tuesday. Despite his direct denials, carried by the American monopoly press, not just through his lawyer mouthpieces, Dr. Steven J. Hatfill is considered in the supposed "FBI investigation" as a "person of interest".
Background and details.
Starting just before 9-11, Black Tuesday, already taking Cipro, the antibiotic useful against Anthrax, were top officials in the Bush White House, including apparently George W. Bush himself. This was several weeks BEFORE the newsfakers began to headline stories of death and illness from Anthrax arriving in the mail. The maker of Cipro is Bayer, A.G., a left-over of Nazi big business financially interwoven with elders of the Bush Family. This one detail, by itself, tends to show prior Bush White House complicity and knowledge of what the Anthrax terrorism is all about.

The Carlyle Group reportedly have a financial interest in BioPort Corp., having been the sole Department of Defense contractor for supplying Anthrax vaccine. Carlyle is also financially interlocked with members of the Saudi Royals.
Among those who are or have been on the Board of Carlyle: COLIN POWELL, once senior advisor at Carlyle, former head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and currently (at least as of this date) Bush 2nd Secretary of State. FRANK CARLUCCI, implicated with the overthrow of the Portugal government in Lisbon, 1974, once a top official of the American CIA. JAMES BAKER 3rd, former U.S. Secretary of State in the Daddy Bush White House; Baker reportedly was implicated in the apparent massive bribery in the fall of 2000, of top DEMOCRAT Party officials in Southern Florida, to sabotage the recount of the presidential ballots to favor Bush. Just after the Anthrax terrorism stories first appeared in the monopoly press, the Bush White House ordered National Guard sentries to guard Carlyle's property, the BioPort plant, Lansing, Michigan. (New York Times, 10/6/01, which, of course, omitted mentioning Carlyle Group.) The purpose, as we have pointed out, was to stop this privately held firm from their key people revealing to journalists the true ownership of BioPort. Nevertheless, we wrote about it in our website story, this series, Part 3, "The Anthrax Commissars".
[3] The first death victim of Anthrax by mail was the layout/photoeditor, Bob Stevens, 63, of The Sun, a supermarket tabloid. American Media, Inc., has their headquarters building, Boca Raton, Florida. They are the publisher of The Sun, as well as other supermarket tabloids, including The National Enquirer, The Globe, and The Star. Their specialty is to publish eye-popping details of celebrities and politicos, and their sexmates, and the clothes they wear or do not wear.
Their strategist and general counsel has been David Kendall, the arm-twisting Washington, D.C. attorney, a close crony of Hillary Clinton. An example. In 1996, in the U.S. District Court in Chicago, we as television journalists sued Hillary Clinton, at the time "First Lady", for unlawfully putting us on an "enemies list" and ordering the secret political police to hound us. Why? Because of a 1992 documentary we cablecast, proving Hillary's business partner was in violation of export and other laws, was unlawfully supplying known worldwide terrorists with missile parts. We had their secret notebooks, telexes, and such, put up on the tv screen. The result? Right before the 1992 Presidential election, Hillary's business partner, which we had fingered, was arrested.
DAVID KENDALL, as attorney for Hillary Rodham Clinton, as is clear from the circumstances, apparently blackmailed the U.S. District Judge, George Marovich. As shown by us in the undisputed court records, the Judge was the owner of a suburban shopping mall. His secret, silent business partners are/were mafioso jointly with top corrupt Chicago-based IRS officials.
Failing to disqualify himself, Judge Marovich made an unprecedented decision, dismissing our suit because he did not have the time or inclination to hear and consider all the highly specific dates, details, and circumstances involved in proving our claims. On appeal, as a further reprisal, the Federal Appeals Court in Chicago refused to consider our mandatory appeal and ordered that we be barred from all the Federal Courts in Illinois, Indiana, and Wisconsin. The U.S. Supreme Court refused to remedy this unlawful cancellation of our First Amendment rights.
The supermarket tabloids mentioned ostensibly either have years ago published and were about to repeat publishing, or were about to publish for the first time, the following: Undisputed photos of George W. Bush, from the photos, witnesses, and circumstances, apparently highly drunk and/or stoned on some dope, dancing totally nude on the top of a tavern bar or table.
The layout/photo editor of the tabloids, Bob Stevens, being near-sighted, put the envelope addressed to him, containing Anthrax spores, up close to his face, thus directly getting the deadly, weapons-grade Anthrax into his nose."Days later, spores were detected in the nasal cavity of Ernesto Blanco, a 73-year-old mail supervisor at The Sun....".....
"Health authorities also found anthrax on Mr. Stevens' computer keyboard, prompting them to evacuate the offices on Monday and conduct tests on all employees and others who have been in the building over the last several weeks". The hundreds of workers in the building had to be kept elsewhere for quite a few weeks, as the building was kept empty. Did American Media, Inc., publisher of the supermarket tabloids, get the message? Will they ever now publish the apparent photos and details scandalizing George W. Bush, White House resident and occupant? Probably not.
[4] In this series, we have mentioned that the British particularly relish attacking the U.S. Central Government with specific, truthful details as to prior knowledge of Bush as to Black Tuesday, and such. Obviously, sooner or later, this type of situation would lead, as we state, to "The Overthrow of the American Republic". It is the truth. Unfortunately, the Brits are publicizing these details, not for the good of common Americans, but to further the British agenda, to revert us back to being subjects of the British Monarchy, and this continent returned to being British colonies.
The British Government owned and controlled British Broadcasting Company, put out on radio and television, and on-line, a blockbuster documentary. That is their hard-hitting on-line audio/video program series, "Newsnight". As they describe it in their opening, "A Newsnight investigation raised the possiblity that there was a secret CIA project to investigate methods of sending anthrax through the mail which went madly out of control". Knowledgeable European sources contend, however, that BBC, as ordered by British Counter-Intelligence, apparently completely caused to be omitted from the BBC documentary, the role of Daddy Bush and his cohorts in the American CIA as to Anthrax. That is Bush complicity and prior knowledge. Now, the American pressfakers seek to blame the whole Anthrax matter on one "lone assassin" type medical doctor/biomedical scientist, Steven J. Hatfill who apparently did do some hush-hush covert operations for CIA, but is the patsy as to the Anthrax matter.
Also, note that the British have a way of in advance stopping printing, airing, or telecasting certain subjects. Called in their lingo, "D-Notice", it means a notice that if they go on the air or in print with a subject they are informed is forbidden (such as fingering the Bush Family directly as to Anthrax/CIA/via Mail), that the London government, by such Notice, informs the media outlet all their facilities, presses, studios, transmission towers, and such, are subject to immediate seizure and no court can or will reverse that seizure.

A bizarre new coloring book for kids issued by the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development obsessively promotes the use of fluoride-based toothpaste despite the chemical's proven link to liver and kidney damage in children, cancer and the lowering of IQ, as well as another harmful product - Bovine Growth Hormone infested milk.
The booklet, entitled Milk Matters With Buddy Brush (PDF) includes an image of two children brushing their teeth using a tube of toothpaste with FLUORIDE written on it in giant capital letters.
Elsewhere the booklet states, "It is important for kids to brush their teeth with fluoride toothpaste at least twice a day to help protect their teeth from cavities".
"This 14-page coloring book is part of the NICHD Milk Matters campaign, designed to teach parents, children, and health care providers about the importance of calcium for children and teens. The booklet, for children ages four to eight, follows Buddy Brush as he explains why calcium is critical not only to good health, but also to healthy teeth, and outlines how to take good care of teeth," reads the description on the National Institute website.
How many times have you seen a tube of toothpaste with FLUORIDE written across it in giant capital letters? The government is clearly trying to send a message here - this cancer-causing, IQ lowering, liver disorder causing deadly chemical is actually nutritious for your kids!
Why is the government so keen on making your kids use fluoride-based toothpaste?
A recent Scientific American study "Concluded that fluoride can subtly alter endocrine function, especially in the thyroid -- the gland that produces hormones regulating growth and metabolism."
The report also notes that "a series of epidemiological studies in China have associated high fluoride exposures with lower IQ."
"Epidemiological studies and tests on lab animals suggest that high fluoride exposure increases the risk of bone fracture, especially in vulnerable populations such as the elderly and diabetics," writes Dan Fagin.
Fagin interviewed Steven Levy, director of the Iowa Fluoride Study which tracked about 700 Iowa children for sixteen years. Nine-year-old "Iowa children who lived in communities where the water was fluoridated were 50 percent more likely to have mild fluorosis... than [nine-year-old] children living in nonfluoridated areas of the state," writes Fagin.
The study adds to a growing literature of shocking scientific studies proving fluoride's link with all manner of health defects, even as governments in the west, including recently the UK, make plans to mass medicate the population against their will with this deadly toxin.
"Buddy Brush bets that your teeth will last a lifetime!" states the coloring booklet. In actual fact, sodium fluoride causes dental fluorosis (fluoride-discolored teeth) can be an indicator of kidney function harm according to an August 2006 study in Environmental Research which found that "water fluoride levels over 2.0 mg/L can cause damage to liver and kidney functions in children."
Since 2.0 mg is routinely exceeded daily by means of intake through food, beverages, pharmaceuticals, and dental products, encouraging children to use sodium fluoride toothpaste is clearly a dangerous mantra.
60 per cent of the U.S. population also drinks sodium-fluoride contaminated water.
In 2005, a study conducted at the Harvard School of Dental Health found that fluoride in tap water directly contributes to causing bone cancer in young boys.
"New American research suggests that boys exposed to fluoride between the ages of five and 10 will suffer an increased rate of osteosarcoma - bone cancer - between the ages of 10 and 19," according to a London Observer article about the study.
Based on the findings of the study, the respected Environmental Working Group lobbied to have fluoride in tap water be added to the US government's classified list of substances known or anticipated to cause cancer in humans.
Cancer rates in the U.S. have skyrocketed with one in three people now contracting the disease at some stage in their life.
The link to bone cancer has also been discovered by other scientists, but a controversy ensued after it emerged that Harvard Professor Chester Douglass, who downplayed the connection in his final report, was in fact editor-in-chief of The Colgate Oral Health Report, a quarterly newsletter funded by Colgate-Palmolive Co., which makes fluoridated toothpaste.
An August 2006 Chinese study found that fluoride in drinking water damages children's liver and kidney functions.
FACTS ABOUT FLUORIDE
- Fluoride is a waste by-product of the fertilizer and aluminum industry and it's also a Part II Poison under the UK Poisons Act 1972.
- Fluoride is one of the basic ingredients in both PROZAC (FLUoxetene Hydrochloride) and Sarin nerve gas (Isopropyl-Methyl-Phosphoryl FLUoride).
- USAF Major George R. Jordan testified before Un-American Activity committees of Congress in the 1950's that in his post as U.S.-Soviet liaison officer, the Soviets openly admitted to "Using the fluoride in the water supplies in their concentration camps, to make the prisoners stupid, docile, and subservient."
- The first occurrence of fluoridated drinking water on Earth was found in Germany's Nazi prison camps. The Gestapo had little concern about fluoride's supposed effect on children's teeth; their alleged reason for mass-medicating water with sodium fluoride was to sterilize humans and force the people in their concentration camps into calm submission. - 97% of western Europe has rejected fluoridated water due to the known health risks, however 10% of Britons drink it and the UK government is trying to fast track the fluoridation of the entire country's water supply.
- In Germany, Belgium and Luxembourg fluoridation of water was rejected because it was classified as compulsive medication against the subject's will and therefore violated fundamental human rights.
- In November of 2006, the American Dental Association (ADA) advised that parents should avoid giving babies fluoridated water.

BOVINE GROWTH HORMONE INFESTED MILK - NUTRITIOUS & DELICIOUS
The coloring book also promotes the consumption of non-organic milk products which are likely to be contaminated with Bovine Growth Hormone, a compound injected into cattle to increase milk production by 15 per cent. BGH is banned in Europe and Canada because it raises levels of a cancer-accelerating hormone called IGF-1.
According to author Jeffrey Smith, "A Harvard study of 15,000 white males revealed that those with elevated IGF-1 levels in their blood were four times more likely to get prostate cancer than the average man."
Collusion on behalf of the FDA and Monsanto, the corporation that has a monopoly on producing BGH (Posilac), led to the compound being approved in 1993, despite the objections of, "Several scientists involved in the review of Posilac (who) were dismissed or pressured to leave the FDA expressing concerns over the process used to approve the drug for use in dairy cows and others expressed their concerns anonymously for fear of retribution."
BGH milk is now sold in 49 states and approximately one third of dairy cattle in the U.S. are injected with Posilac. It is now the top selling dairy cattle pharmaceutical product in the U.S.
Monsanto has embarked on an aggressive and zealous campaign to pressure farming and cheese-making groups into using Posilac despite their objections.
We have to question why the government is so keen to promote non-organic milk and fluoride-based toothpaste, two products which have been proven to have a damaging and detrimental effect on health and particularly children's health.
Along with the recent move to make all vaccines mandatory for children, the necessity to increase our education and warn others about the dangers posed by everyday items such as these, and to promote organic alternatives, is more pressing than ever before.

McClatchy reports that according to “an insightful analysis” by former Joint Chiefs of Staff senior intelligence officer John McCreary, “May saw more violence than any other month since the 2001 U.S. intervention that toppled the Taliban and forced Osama bin Laden and his followers to flee into Pakistan.” From McCreary’s analysis:
April featured 199 violent incidents in 86 districts, making it the most lethal April in the six year conflict. May featured 214 incidents of violence in over 100 districts, also a new six-year total for May and the highest single monthly total. Despite official efforts to spotlight improvement, the spring offensive thus far is worse than last year’s spring offensive. The security situation has deteriorated again.

The Escondido-based company says it will throw in a free four-bedroom home worth $400,000 (£200,000) for buyers of one of its luxury detached houses, which cost from $1.6 million (£800,00).
"Yes, as cheesy as it sounds, it's real," Dawn Berry, a marketing specialist with Michael Crews Development, said yesterday.
She said the idea, initially a joke, came out of a weekly brain-storming meeting as the company sought for way to stimulate the slow market by "creating a buzz".
"We were talking about the market and what's going on and it's all foreclosures, short sales, all this negative news. People were throwing out ideas and somebody said, 'what about a two for one deal?' as a joke. And Michael kind of chewed on it and said, 'well, we could do that'."
She said it was a legitimate deal with no catches and they had been inundated with inquires since the deal was announced. "Tons of people are just curious about it.

It was particularly difficult this year to find out when and where the annual conclave of world powerbrokers, the Bilderberg Group, would take place. Finally, it appears certain that the highly secret meeting of western political-military elites will take place from June 5 – 8 in Chantilly, Virginia, near Washington, in a luxury hotel immersed in nature, the Westfield’s Marriott.
What is Bilderberg? The Bilderberg group, which convened for the first time in 1954 in Holland, is considered the most powerful decision-making organization in the world. Semi-secret (without even a website), the group consists of elite political, financial, managerial, military, and media leaders from North America and Western Europe. In contrast with the Trilateral Commission, which was created out of the Bilderberg Group specifically to work with emerging Asian nations (Japan in the Seventies, China and India today), the Bilderberg Group is a genuine “shadow government” of the West that, some critics say, decides the fate of the world to suit the interests of the restricted oligarchy it represents.
On the Table. Two years ago, a press release sent out on the date of the opening session in 2006 (held in Ottawa, Canada), explained that the annual meeting would discuss the War on Terrorism, the situation in Iran and the Middle East, Oil, Russia, US-EU relations, and relations between the West and Asia, as well as Immigration. It is to be supposed that this year’s meeting will include discussion of current international emergencies, such as Afghanistan, the high cost of oil, and the world economic crisis. Concerning oil: after the Ottawa meeting, indiscreet leaks reported that a decision had been announced by oil producers to raise the cost of oil to over $100 a barrel over the course of two years.
The most recent list of Bilderberg members dates from the 2006 meeting, and includes high Bush administration officials, Henry Kissinger, the directors of the Federal Reserve Bank, Credit Suisse, Rothschild Europe (Vice President Franco Bernabè), representatives of Shell, BP, and ENI (Paolo Scaroni), Coca Cola, Phillips, Unilever, Time Warner, AOL, Tyssen-Krupp, and Fiat (Vice President John Elkann). Also present were representatives from Nato, the United Nations, the World Bank, the European Union, and economists (including Giulio Tremonti and Mario Monti) and many Western leaders (Italy’s representative was Tommaso Padoa-Schioppa). Why all the privacy? Considering the grave importance to the public of the subjects discussed and the people present at the meetings, it would be logical – if for no other reason that to discourage paranoid theories – not to keep the meetings so private (or secret, if you prefer), and not to hold them behind closed doors in super-secure locations surrounded by armed guards, far from the prying eyes of journalists and the curious. If they have nothing to hide, why are they hiding?

Former DEA Agent: Mexican Commandos Killing In South West US To Protect Bush Drug Cartel

Retired DEA Agent Celerino "Cele" Castillo III served for 12 years in the Drug Enforcement Administration where he built cases against organized drug rings in Manhattan, raided jungle cocaine labs in the amazon, conducted aerial eradication operations in Guatemala, and assembled and trained anti-narcotics units in several countries.
Cele appeared on the Alex Jones show and dropped the bombshell that los Zetas, Mexican drug commandos trained in the U.S. at the School of the Americas at Fort Benning, Georgia to be the elite "special forces" of the Mexican military are now murdering police and conducting hits all over the South West US.
This partially came out in the national media last week but the spin was that it was just a case of blowback and that these US trained commandos had come back to haunt their former handlers. The truth is that they are still working for the US government in protecting drug routes to keep the wheels of Wall Street oiled.
These commandos are working directly for the Bush drug cartel in carrying out hits on rival drug smugglers who aren't paying their cut. Witnesses and innocent police, DEA and FBI agents are also being murdered.

There's warehouses down here we're they're training more Zetas individuals that work for the cartels.

White House Has No Information On Hundreds Of Kidnapped, Executed Americans In Mexico

The White House has declared that it has no information on any ongoing judicial processes concerning hundreds of kidnappings and murders of American citizens by Mexican drug cartels and gangs between 2005 and 2007.
Cybercast News Service specifically asked Press Secretary Dana Perino last Friday for information pertaining to a still operative travel alert issued by the State Department, which warned travelers that violence "equivalent to military small-unit combat" was taking place along the southern U.S. border with Mexico.
"Recent Mexican army and police force conflicts with heavily-armed narcotics cartels have escalated to levels equivalent to military small-unit combat and have included use of machine guns and fragmentation grenades," said the State Department alert.
Perino told CNS that she did not know whether the President was aware of the alert or not.
A follow up email to the White House requesting specific information on legal action concerning 128 documented cases of murders and executions of Americans in Mexico in the last two years was met only with a recommendation to contact the attorney general of Mexico.
The Justice Department and the State Department have also both previously stated that they have no information on any arrests, prosecutions or convictions related to the murders.
Last month the Houston Chronicle reported that two representatives urged Congress to take action to address the worsening situation on the southern border.
Rep. Ted Poe, R-Humble, urged the Congress to take action regarding the frequent incursions of military style Mexican commandos into the U.S. that has seen over 6000 deaths in the past two and a half years according to conservative estimates.
Poe highlighted the fact that the guerrilla-style commandos are regularly crossing the border into the U.S. and have been involved in violence and killings as far north as Dallas. Poe cited reports indicating that there have been over 250 documented incursions by suspected military forces into the United States over the past decade.
Another Congressman, Rep. Michael McCaul, R-Austin, called border drug violence "an imminent security threat right on our doorstep" and compared the urgency of situation to that of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
In March, award winning National Security and Pentagon reporter for the Washington Times, Sara A. Carter, detailed the national media blackout on the Mexican incursions and the border war:
"There's a lot of people who don't realize how serious the situation is on the southern border." Ms. Carter told the Alex Jones show. "Even to the extent when sometimes some of our own government officials choose to ignore it, even though they know it's going on."
"It is a huge story. It is bigger than most of us even know, and people are afraid of covering the story. We hear reports but we don't see in depth detail." Carter said.
According to reports, members of Mexico's elite counter-narcotics teams, trained at Fort Benning, Ga., are regularly defecting into the pay of drug cartels.
Drug cartels in Mexico have increasingly targeted policemen in various parts of the country. Seven other policemen were killed last week, as The New York Times reported. More than 30 federal agents and 170 local police officers have been killed in the last 18 months.
As the LA Times reports, 40,000 soldiers and 5,000 federal police officers have been deployed onto the streets in Mexico in an attempt to secure large swaths of the country against entrenched drug traffickers in what has been described by the President Felipe Calderon as an all out war.
Many within Mexico are worried that the army could prove as vulnerable to corruption as the police. History dictates that the move to deploy troops may only worsen the crisis, as explained in this LA Times report:
During the 1980s, the army's job was mainly to find and destroy opium poppy and marijuana crops in western and northern Mexico.
In the 1990s, then-President Ernesto Zedillo ordered the air force to chase drug flights and named an army general as the nation's top anti-drug officer.
That general, Jose de Jesus Gutierrez Rebollo, was later convicted on charges that he helped Amado Carrillo Fuentes, reputed head of the Juarez cartel.
While reports of soldiers, narcotics agents and cops dealing drugs are almost routine, the real head of the hydra has always been CIA involvement in smuggling drugs that end up on America's streets, a symbiotic process that also helps finance wars and terrorist groups to do the bidding of the U.S. government around the world.
The corporate media will report on lesser drug smuggling scandals involving cops and customs agents, but when it comes to the gargantuan sprawling CIA drug smuggling racket, the silence is deafening.
In September 2007, a Florida based Gulfstream II jet aircraft # N987SA was forced to crash land in Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula after it ran out of fuel.
After accident investigators arrived on the scene they discovered a cargo of nearly 4 tonnes of cocaine.
Journalists discovered that the same Gulstream jet had been used in at least three CIA "rendition" trips to Guantanamo Bay between 2003 and 2005.
Kevin Booth's underground hit documentary American Drug War features footage of former DEA head Robert Bonner admitting that the CIA was involved in cocaine smuggling operations.

A Portuguese newspaper has reported on something the American corporate media remains cowardly complicit about and dare not even mention - this week's confab of nearly 200 of the world's most influential powerbrokers in Chantilly Virginia for the 2008 Bilderberg Group meeting.
The Sol newspaper carries a story today concerning two of the Portuguese attendees of this year's conference, the mayors of Lisbon and Porto - Antonio Costa and Rui Rio (pictured top).
Tellingly, the report highlights the fact that Bilderberg has kingmaker power in vetting future Prime Ministers and Presidents, noting how Pedro Santana Lopes and Jose Socrates attended the 2004 meeting in Stresa, Italy before both going on to become Prime Minster of Portugal.
In addition, the report underscores how both Costa and Rio have ambitions to lead their respective parties and potentially run for Prime Minister in the future.
The clear implication is that Costa and Rio are being groomed by Bilderberg for future "selection" as Portuguese Prime Minister in the same way that Bill Clinton and Tony Blair were vetted by the secretive organization in the early 1990's.
The fact that there has been just one mainstream news report about Bilderberg and not one single mention of this year's meeting in the U.S. corporate media less than 48 hours before nearly 200 top globalists will meet to set the agenda for the planet is another damning indictment of the back-slapping cronyism that dominates the national media.
Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that the editors of such newspapers as the Washington Post, the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times are regular Bilderberg attendees and value Bilderberg's strict secrecy rule over and above any responsibility to their readers or the American people.
Bilderberg is routinely attended by the world's top CEO's, Prime Minsters, Presidents, NATO officials, UN officials, Federal Reserve members, European Central Bank heads, banking heads, oil heads, University Professors, as well as people like Henry Kissinger, David Rockefeller and Bill Gates.
If 200 football or basketball stars met in secret do you think the media would be interested in finding out what they were talking about?
Yet these people shape the destiny of our world and there's barely a hint of a mention in the U.S. media.
